City traffic

We count city page views, unique browsers and sponsor link clicks. A first-party signed cookie stores a random browser identifier for up to 30 days. We store only a city-specific keyed hash of that identifier, never your IP address, name or browsing history. Daily visitor identifiers expire after 30 UTC days and are removed on the next access to that city. Total page-view and click counts are retained without identifiers. Clearing or blocking cookies causes repeat visits to count as new browsers. Counts include automated visits; they are not a guarantee of human reach.

Partner embeds and API

Hotels and tourism partners may load /embed docs or /embed/:city in an iframe, or call the keyed partner JSON API. Embed page loads do not receive a visitor cookie and do not count toward city sponsorship traffic. The partner API returns only healthy public camera metadata (name, kind, HTTPS media URL, source credit URL, last frame time and last-24h capture timestamps) when a valid deployment API key (PARTNER_API_KEY) is presented. Camera players and images remain third-party resources.

Last-24h highlights and per-camera timelapse

For each city we keep a short rolling list of trusted camera capture timestamps (feed id, name, source URL and capture time) for up to 24 hours so the city page can name the most active camera and each camera can show its own observation log at /city/:city/camera/:feed. We do not store historical image bytes for a film timelapse.

Camera map

The public /map page plots city camera window locations from catalogue coordinates on a self-hosted SVG map. No third-party map tiles or location services are loaded in your browser. Markers may show current temperature labels from the weather overlay below.

Weather

City pages and the camera map may request current weather from Open-Meteo using city coordinates. The request is made by our server; no weather cookies are set in your browser. When Open-Meteo is unreachable the map still shows window markers without weather.

Camera and sponsor providers

Visible cameras, sponsor logos and their linked websites are supplied by third parties. Loading their images or players shares your IP address and browser information with those providers, which may use their own cookies. No third-party analytics scripts are installed by us.

Sponsors and payment

Stripe processes billing details and card payments. We store the public sponsor name, logo (HTTPS URL or uploaded image bytes served from this site), optional report email and destination URL, subscription identifiers and slot status to deliver sponsorship and monthly analytics emails. We do not store card details. Use the billing link on Stripe receipts or contact us to cancel, request access, correction or deletion. Billing records may be retained where required by law.

Hosting

Railway Corp., USA (Serverstandort gemäss Konfiguration) hosts this service and database. The host may keep technical request logs under its own retention policy. Service providers may process data outside Switzerland. Contact us using the imprint for privacy requests.
